Harbour and history

Harbour places in Enonkoski are connected with the Saimaa waterways. Enonvesi provides links towards Haukivesi and the surrounding lake network. In the waterside church village, travel, livelihoods and settlement were organised around the lakes and the rapids between them.

Culture and local stories

Local cultural history is reflected in the museum housed in an old grain store and in the buildings around the rapids. Village history can be placed alongside the lake environment of Kolovesi. The small harbour setting therefore belongs to a much wider story of Saimaa’s islands and waterborne travel.
