Harbour and history

Espoo’s landing places belong to the maritime landscape of Suvisaaristo and Espoonlahti. These shores were used for fishing, island homes and travel by boat. Villa life and summer visits were later added to the same environment, with traces preserved in the archipelago’s buildings.

Culture and local stories

At the Pentala Archipelago Museum, everyday life is presented on a former fishing estate. Gurli’s House preserves the setting of Gurli Nyholm’s final summer in 1986. Through this personal story, Espoo’s coastline can be understood as a meeting place of work, domestic life and summer residents.
