Gottby – port calls

Harbour and history

Gottby is situated in Jomala, Åland. Connections between the region’s coastal villages have developed over both land and water. Its maritime setting is presented here within Jomala’s village landscape; the sources used do not establish a foundation date or a separate commercial-port history.

Culture and local stories

Jomala’s cultural work emphasises awareness of local history, heritage sites and nature. Gottby belongs to this wider community memory. In rural Åland, cultural heritage is also carried through place names, shared activities and experiences handed from one generation to another.
