Harbour and history

Connections through Iniö followed sheltered straits and stretches of open water. The church village of Norrby lies among the main islands, where settlement developed in relation to shores and water routes. Landing places belong to the everyday structure of island life.

Culture and local stories

Iniö’s stone church was built between 1797 and 1800. The surrounding buildings preserve the setting of a small archipelago parish. The history of a village centre reached by water explains why the waterfront has held such an important place in local culture.
