Harbour and history

Construction of Inkoo’s commercial harbour began in 1961, and shipping started in 1962. A sheltered coastal location was connected with industrial transport networks. The development of the Port of Inkoo reflects the post-war need to link road haulage and sea transport.

Culture and local stories

Inkoo’s centre grew around its medieval stone church. Dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of seafarers, the church preserves a notable Dance of Death mural. This older heritage places the modern port within a coastal community whose maritime associations extend much further into the past.
