Harbour and history

Kantvik’s harbour areas form part of Kirkkonummi’s southern coast. Industry at Strömsby and Kantvik linked sea transport with production. The village’s development reflects a transition from a rural setting to an industrial community.

Culture and local stories

Local history also includes the Porkkala lease period of 1944–1956. The area’s return and subsequent building changed village life. Kantvik’s story therefore combines older coastal settlement, an exceptional chapter of border history and a community shaped by industry.
