Harbour and history

Lappohja’s harbour places belong to the coastal landscape of the Hanko Peninsula. The village of Lappvik is recorded as early as the fifteenth century. Later links between harbour, railway and industry reshaped the area and connected it with Hanko’s wider transport landscape.

Culture and local stories

Older village settlement and the industrial era run alongside one another in Lappohja’s story. The peninsula’s sandy shores present a different scene from its transport and production areas. Their proximity brings coastal everyday life and the history of work into the same local landscape.
