Harbour and history

Loviisa’s maritime history can be approached through Laivasilta and the port at Valko. The old town waterfront recalls storage and sea trade, while Valko belongs to a broader cargo-transport setting. Together these harbour areas reveal different phases of coastal commerce.

Culture and local stories

At Laivasilta, red salt warehouses preserve the past in the buildings themselves. A maritime museum, exhibitions and summer meeting places share the area. The former storage waterfront has therefore retained its maritime character while becoming a setting for culture and community life.
