Harbour and history
Pernaja’s harbour places belong to the coastal landscape of Pernajanlahti Bay. Sea routes and the old Great Coastal Road met in a region of church villages, estates and shoreline settlement. Travel by water complemented connections on land.
Culture and local stories
The medieval church and parsonage surroundings preserve the area’s long history. Mikael Agricola, whose life is associated with Pernaja, is commemorated near the church. The maritime landscape therefore also opens onto the history of the Finnish written language and ecclesiastical culture.
