Harbour and history

The Port of Pietarsaari, also known as Jakobstad, handles forest industry cargo such as pulp, timber and paper. Until the mid-19th century, the town’s harbour was situated near Kittholmen.

From Skata to the old harbour

The wooden houses of Skata and the red boathouses by the old harbour recall a town shaped by seafaring. Today’s recreational waterfront invites thoughts of sailing ships, maritime trade and the work of shipbuilders.
