Sipoo's limestone and harbour

Sipoo's industrial shipping is linked to limestone at Kalkkiranta. Nordkalk's site combines an underground mine, grinding plant and harbour. Industrial extraction began in the 1930s, although the deposit was recorded in medieval times.

The historic parish centre

Inland, Sipoo's medieval stone church stands alongside the newer church consecrated in 1885. Vaulting and wall paintings distinguish the older building. The Great Coastal Road crosses this historic parish landscape.
