Skinnarvik and archipelago history

Skinnarvik's port calls sit within the wider maritime setting of Kimitoön. Rural sailing trade flourished across the region in the nineteenth century, particularly in Västanfjärd. Ironworks and lime burning also shaped the island's economy.

Regional heritage at Sagalund

Sagalund was founded by teacher Nils Oskar Jansson in 1900. Historic buildings, a garden and children's cultural activities preserve regional traditions. Teacher and author Adèle Weman is also associated with its Vreta school setting.
