Skogby's maritime ironworks

Skogby's blast furnace was founded near a suitable harbour in 1682. Swedish ore became pig iron for Fagervik and Billnäs. The surviving furnace dates from 1789.

A sawmill community

The sawmill, established in 1888, developed its own workers' settlement. Homes, schools and meeting places record the community's everyday life. Sawmilling continued until 1987; the area is recognised as nationally significant built heritage.
