Harbour and history

The harbour landscape of Taalintehdas, or Dalsbruk, was formed around an ironworks on the southern coast of Kimitoön. A location suited to maritime transport was developed from an early blast furnace into a large industrial community over several centuries. Different phases remain visible in waterfront production and storage buildings.

Culture and local stories

Local history has been preserved in slag-brick buildings, workers’ housing and the old ironworks environment. The maritime village shows how closely manufacturing, domestic life and transport were connected. This industrial heritage gives Dalsbruk its distinctive character beyond the ships at its waterfront.
