Ekenäs, a historic harbour town

Ekenäs was founded in 1546. Its old town retains a sixteenth-century street and plot pattern, although the surviving wooden houses are later. Land uplift and reclamation have altered the shoreline.

Seafarers' and craftspeople's quarters

Around Slottsbacken and today's marina, historic residential quarters preserve narrow streets, small courtyards and timber buildings. The Knipan restaurant is a distinctive waterfront landmark.
