Harbour and history

Uusikaarlepyy’s history can be approached through the Lapuanjoki River and its coastal connections. Riverside settlement and routes towards the sea form part of the town’s setting. The harbour belongs to a small Ostrobothnian community whose waterside life left traces in the cultural landscape.

Culture and local stories

Kuddnäs Museum preserves the setting of writer Zacharias Topelius’s childhood home. The riverside house also presents nineteenth-century bourgeois life. Through a personal home, the local story brings literature and the river landscape together.
